Terms & Fees
These terms outline the general expectations, rights, and responsibilities involved in working with Sharma Immigration Counsel for U.S. immigration legal services.
Attorney–Client Relationship
An attorney–client relationship is only formed after both parties have signed a written engagement agreement. Completing a consultation or submitting a form does not create this relationship.
Scope of Services
Legal services will be limited to the specific matter(s) described in your signed engagement agreement. Sharma Immigration Counsel does not represent you in other legal matters unless separately agreed upon in writing.
Consultation Fees
First 15‑Minute Consultation: Always free. This session allows us to learn about your needs and determine how we can help.
Additional Consultation Time: Billed at $75 per additional 15 minutes. These follow-up sessions may include detailed legal analysis, case planning, or strategy development tailored to your situation.
Flat Fee Cases
For most immigration cases, Sharma Immigration Counsel charges a flat fee. This will be clearly outlined in your engagement agreement and is based on the complexity of your case. Filing fees to USCIS or the Department of State are not included.
Typical Starting Points Include:
- Adjustment of Status: $1,500 – $2,500
- I‑130 Petition: $750 – $1,250
- Fiancé(e) Visa (K‑1): $1,200 – $1,800
- I‑539 Visitor Visa Extension: $600 – $900
- Change of Status: $1,200 – $1,800
- Naturalization (N‑400): $850 – $1,200
- I‑601 or I‑601A Waivers: $2,000 – $3,500
Hourly Billing Option
If your case involves ongoing, uncertain, or complex legal work, we may offer representation based on hourly billing with an advance retainer.
- Hourly Rate: $400/hour
- Initial Retainer: $5,000
Communication & Privacy
You will work directly with your attorney. Communications are confidential and handled virtually through secure channels. We aim to respond to all client messages in a reasonable timeframe.
Ending Representation
You may terminate representation at any time in writing. Sharma Immigration Counsel may also withdraw from representation in accordance with applicable rules of professional conduct. Any unearned portion of a retainer will be refunded.
Governing Law
All services are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut. Any disputes shall be resolved under Connecticut law and jurisdiction.
